According to Georgian folklore the 2nd of January is considered a magical day called “Bedoba” according to the legend you should do what you wish to do for the rest of the year on this day – as a photographer I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to take a walk in the city at a time when there would be very few people around and I would be able to get clear lines of sight. As luck would have it the wind made sure that the light was extremely clear on this day and vast array of opportunity to take a photo of a spectacular reflection came about. This door is in fact the door of the popular Georgian restaurant “Keto and Kote” which is located in a beautiful old Renovated building hidden away from public view halfway up the hill from Rustaveli Avenue to Upper Vera. For me this photo encapsulates much of what I admire in the architecture of the city of Tbilisi and serves as a homage to the way so many of us feel about the city we call home.
